| I
was born on 13 of August 1962 in Kolkata. Glimpses of my creative
aspirations started surfacing, as I was studying to be a graduate
in Commerce, in 1982. Once I had made-up my mind to be an artist,
I started exhibiting works that were mostly figurative. In 1992, I
started my works based on the theme of trees which fascinated me with
the immense possibilities that this subject had to offer - forcing
me into challenging situations of creative expression. " Vriksha"
- a saga of trees, had been exhibited in various galleries in Kolkata,
Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Jamshedpur, Hyderabad … to name
a few. |
| In
1996, I had an assignment as a Museum photographer of Birla Academy
of Art and Culture, Kolkata. The interest in photography as another
medium of expression had given me opportunities to exhibit in some
All India exhibitions on Photography.
The
fascination to explore the possibility of moving my painted trees
forced me to take up lessons in animation and graphic art.
In 1997, I went to Hyderabad and joined the Heart Animation Academy
as an assistant faculty and subsequently became the Principal of
the academy. In 2000 I was a production manager in animation and
headed the Hyderabad operations of Pentamedia Graphics Limited.
In 2004 I shifted back to Kolkata with an assignment to become the
Regional Manager of a premiere institute which was into training
for animation filmmaking. Presently I am the Studio Head of
Metaphor Studios Kolkata with
many accredited animation productions.
Doordarshan,
Kolkata had made a short film using my works on the theme of "Trees".
I had also worked as an art Director in a Telugu film, Hari
Villu - directed by Mr. B Narsing Rao and produced by Suresh Productions.
